About Lou Toscano

I have been teaching golf for more than 15 years, but have been a classroom teacher for more than 30 years. This experience has provided me with the unique ability to explain the golf swing in simple, easily understood terms. I have worked with students of all ages and all levels from 5 to 81.

I teach in many different ways, offering group clinics, individual lessons, skill specific classes, and playing lessons. I use video analysis when necessary and provide specific skills and drills for practice between sessions.

Every facet of the game is covered including iron play, driving, short game, putting, and course management.

I took lessons with Lou during the summer of 2018, and credit him with taking my game from high 90’s to mid 80’s. I found look to be a keen observer, who assessed my game and provided me with constructive improvements that dramatically improved my game. What I particularly liked was that Lou did not attempt to reinvent the wheel. I had taken lessons 20 years ago where the Pro tried to totally reconstruct my swing. I have always hit monster drives, and suddenly was barely hitting my drive 150 yards. Lou helped me hit my irons and fairway woods more solidly and consistently. I asked him to help me with my driver, and after seeing me hit 10 or 15 drives, said that I did not need to change anything. My last lesson with Lou, he joined me on the course, for five holes. Watching intently and giving me some advice, and some needed chipping lessons, but also letting me play. The final hole was a par 3 and I hit a nine iron straight at the pin, missing a hole in one by six inches. Lou said we were done.

We have had the pleasure of working with Lou for four summers at the Winnapaug Golf Course. Our son participates in the weekly golf lessons and tournaments there. Lou is consistently very patient and encouraging. The atmosphere is geared towards individual mentoring and education, as well as group interactive play. Lou provides genuine feedback and is truly willing to put in the extra time to make sure our son better understands how to improve the technical aspects of his game. Our son has shown consistent enthusiasm and progress, since starting summer lessons with Lou. We highly recommend Lou’s junior golf program at Winnapaug Country Club.
